The sun was hanging halfway on its road in the eastern sky. The Dead trees rose into the air as if holding up the sky. The crisp winter air had a clean, refreshing smell, as if promising a new beginning for all that breathed it in.

In a small clearing, a monk stood holding a small length of azure rope. Beside him stood a soldier of the Legion to bare witness to the sacred union about to take place. The two lover's, carrying a piece of geode each, stepped into the clearing. Upon the fallen tree used as the alter, he set his agate geode down, and then she set her amethyst geode beside it. The couple took each others hand, nervously smiling to each other.

The monk began the rites of the handfasting, tying the rope around his right wrist, and her left. The two looked into each other's eyes, and finally the man spoke:

"I love you more than I ever loved another. When you came to me, I was in darkness. You were and still are, the light that keeps me alive. You are my angel, and I will love you until the end of my days."

Then she replied:
"And I love you. I was ready to abandon hope of finding my mate. But then you came to me, you were nice to me, cared for me, and loved me. I will love you for the rest of my time on earth, and beyond."

With this, the monk cut the length of rope between their wrists. As the soldier wiped tears from her eyes, the monk pronounced the couple husband and wife.
